FRED JAMES/ FJAM – BASS, PIANO, LEAD GUITAR, LEAD & BACKGROUND VOCALS, DRUMS & DRUM PROGRAMMING Fred James was born in Kansas City, MO., into a family of very talented and established musicians. It was there that Fred developed a true love and passion for music. It began with him taking piano lessons at the age of eight. From there his excitement grew and lead him towards mastering his skills playing the drums and bass guitar; learning from some of the top jazz musicians in Kansas City. Fred attended Central High School where he participated in the high school band (drums) as well as playing for the football,basketball, and track teams. Fred excelled as a quarterback for the football team to receive MVP and ALL-American Awards. After attending the University of Missouri(Lincoln), Fred relocated to Atlanta, GA. to tryout for the Atlanta Falcons. Although he excelled in this sport, his appetite for music strengthened. He moved to Houston, TX, where he played at numerous local churches, functions and clubs. Along this journey he met Oliver Scott, band leader and songwriter for the Gap Band, who assisted Fred in enhancing his foundation as a musician/songwriter. Fred met and played for then bright and upcoming Gospel Recording Artist Yolanda Adams from 1987 to 1993. Following this musical chapter, he then relocated to Orange County, California where he played with the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Orange County Chapter, under the direction of Gospel Recording Artist James Cory Briggs, as well as other jazz, reggae, and R&B artists. He has also written and produced music for various local rap artists. Fred’s current project, CALL TO ARMS , is a testament of his commitment to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He produces music that is designed to reach people from all walks of life. His greatest desire is to touch those lost souls in the streets. Fred also has a new project”Fjammusic” which are songs if love funky and fresh r&b, club and funky jazz instrumentals. He is currently part of the music ministry at the Second Baptist Church of Santa Ana, CA, under the direction of Dwayne Roberts.
